In June of 2009, Denmark hosted a seminar on Unaccompanied Minor Asylum Seekers which was held at the Tisvildeleje Conference Centre in Northern Zealand. The seminar gathered together practitioners and policy makers from a number of ENARO member countries to a two-day program combining presentations, discussions and workshops on subjects such as reception of UMAs, screening for trafficking, age assessment, voluntary and forced return of UMAs, tracing of family members, volunteer guardians. A visit to the Danish Red Cross Sjalsmark Centre for Unaccompanied Minors concluded the final day of the seminar.

The organizers of the event do hope that the seminar has contributed with relevant and sufficient information enabling the member countries to trace recent developments in the area and to benefit from the interchange of experiences gained during those two days, as it was the objective of the seminar.

We express our warm appreciation to all those dedicated and experienced colleagues across the countries that made it possible to create an interesting and educational program - see links below for presentations from the seminar, participant list, etc.

Our special thanks go to The Danish Ministry of Refugees, Immigration and Integration for kindly financing this event.

With kind regards,

Danish Red Cross
